This is the second one of these hose reels I've owned. I purchased the first one locally, and it lasted nearly ten years before a section of the pipe was burst by an early round of freezing temperatures. Based on that good experience, I purchased this one. The unit is just like the old one, but was shipped in the retail box from the manufacturer. It's a lightweight "chipboard" type of cardboard, with little strength. It's a good sized box, and I'm sure it was on the bottom of the pile while in transit. This, in turn, caused the hose reel and its center "axle" to get bent. When it arrived, I bent it back into shape as best I could, but still had to remove one of the brackets and bushings that hold the reel on the frame to get the reel mounted. When you turn the handle to roll up the hose, there is a noticeable wobble in the middle of the reel, and the outer rings that keep the hose on the reel are also bent and wobble. I haven't yet put on the hose and tested it to make sure it's water tight. Overall it's a good hose reel with flimsy packaging. Might be one of those items you're better off buying locally to avoid the damage in shipment.
