This product takes the crud out of water inside swamp cooler. Much of the scale that collects in swamp coolers- as the water evaporates - is diverted out of the flow instead of collecting in the bottom pan and on the pads. I added these to two of my coolers in about 10 minutes each including tool search, diverting the "waste" water to my wife's flower beds. My tools were pliers and a sharp pocket knife.
