Based on a design flaw and as the previous review stated, the clear wide tape used to seal up the 2 halves of the reel caused water to build up in the spring area. When I removed the tape, rusty water poured out. My rusted spring broke into 4 pieces. Unfortunately, I purchased this item more than a year ago so it's out of warrantee. In addition, I called Grainger, the number listed in the owner's manual for parts, and no parts are available for this item. That's both discouraging and frustrating. Please don't tell me there's a number to call for parts and then find out that no parts are available. My thought is that this company had a good product, but it lasted too long. They built in planned obsolescence by putting the tape around the spring hosing, causing it to fail in a couple years. Do not purchase this item unless you take the tape off right away. It serves no functional purpose other than to hasten the springs failure. I loved this item before this happened and then found out I wasn't the only one and no parts were available.I look forward to hearing from the company in response to this review. I'll keep you updated.
